The Genito-Urinary System consists of the kidneys and bladder, which are essential for processing and eliminating waste products from the body, as well as regulating water and salt levels, and the reproductive organs. Common ailments in these areas include bladder infections, kidney stones, and cystitis.

Some essential oils are natural diuretics, and so can be used to both prevent and treat bladder infections; these include tea tree, bergamot, cedarwood and fennel. A number of essential oils also help prevent the formation and reduce the size of kidney stones, such as lemon, grapefruit, and rosemary, which is an important folk remedy used to treat urinary infections.
