Essential Oil Treatments for Insufficient Milk
Insufficient milk in nursing mothers is an issue whereby new mothers are not lactating sufficiently to nurse their newborn, which can be extremely distressing. Some essential oils have are able to promote lactation, such as anise oil, which has phytoestrogenic properties, so can help to stimulate and increase breast milk production in new mothers.
Oil derived from the bark or roots of sumac, a shrub found in North America and Canada, can also increase the flow, and sweet fennel oil is a galactagogue, increasing production of breast milk in lactating mothers.
Application Usages
Select 2 drops of sweet fennel, 4 drops of clary sage and mix with 3 tablespoons of a carrier oil (fractionated coconut oil is a good option). You can apply the mixture on the breast excluding the nipple area before nursing begins.
