Essential Oil Treatments for Vaginitis
Vaginitis is a common condition involving inflammation of the vagina, resulting in soreness and/or swelling, discharge and itching. It can be brought on by changing hormone levels, and so aromatherapy using any essential oils that help to regulate and balance hormones, such as geranium, evening primrose, and fennel, will be beneficial.
Patchouli is also often used to treat vaginal infections, as it has anti-fungal and antiseptic properties. One traditional Native American treatment for vaginitis was using a wash mixed with essential oil derived from the slippery elm tree, native to the eastern part of North America.
Application Usages
Take 15-20 drops of your preferred essential oils for vaginitis and mix with 2 ounces of carrier oil of your choosing. Apply the mixture into the water only after the water has stopped flowing. Add the mixture while the water is running to evaporate the mixture and
reduce the potency. Sit and soak in water for 10-15 minutes.
