The Jojoba shrub grows in amidst the arid regions of the world: Southern California, Argentina, Arizona, Northern Mexico and Israel. Jojoba seeds contain 50% of precious oil. It reaches a height of 3 m and forces its roots up to 9 m into the desert ground.

During the early 18th century, Native Americans discovered the importance and versatility of jojoba. Through observing the indigenous peoples, Jesuit missionaries on the Baja California Peninsula started heating jojoba seeds to soften them. The Jesuit missionaries were able create salve or buttery substance from the mortar and pestle of the Jojoba. This was used to heal and promote healthy skin and hair.

Native Americans also used the Jojoba salve to preserve and soften animal hides. During pregnancy, women ate the Jojoba seeds believing it assisted during childbirth. Jojoba was a common dietary component for hunters and raiders during trails.

The Jojoba carrier oil is extracted via the Cold Pressed – Unrefined method. The Cold pressed extraction method also known as cold expeller pressed oils consist of mechanically pressing the botanical material, which separates the fatty portions of the botanical, leaving behind a pure high quality carrier oil.

During the mechanical pressing procedure, the maximum temperature (caused by friction) does not exceed 120 degrees. The carrier oil is Unrefined, therefore it has not been bleached or deodorized after extraction.
