Essential Oil Treatments for Menorrhagia
Menorrhagia is abnormally heavy bleeding during menstruation, which can worsen the symptoms of PMS and menstrual cramps. Rose oil strengthens the uterus and helps to regulate menstrual discharge, so is commonly used to treat menorrhagia. Horehound and horsemint, both members of the mint family, are also used to treat particularly painful menstruation and menstrual disorders, along with the more widely known and used spearmint.
In more traditional medicine, Native Americans used Oak to help cope with excessive menstrual bleeding, and sumac, native to North America, has also been found to help with difficult or particularly painful menstruation.
