Cough and Sore Throat

Coughs and/or sore throats are an extremely common ailment, of which there are countless different strains and varieties, and will affect almost everyone at multiple points in their life. Coughs are particularly common in the winter, and the young and elderly are more susceptible to developing them. Coughs can be a short-term ailment, or a chronic condition, and may be accompanied by difficulty in breathing; the sinuses may also be affected. Historically, a number of essential oils, such as eucalyptus and other menthols have been traditionally used to help clear the airways. Another natural substance, honey, which has natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, has also been used alongside lemon to ease the symptoms of sore throats and relieve discomfort.

Essential Oils has been widely used for years by herbalists and they strongly advocate its usage during cold and flu season. Peppermint Oil is another great oil to use for coughs and sore throats from colds and allergies. It effectively silences a coughs in a short period of time and helps alleviate any pain or irritation derived from having a sore throat.

You can also mix these oils with honey which will make you feel better and boost your immune system so your symptoms of cough and/or sore throat will not last as long and your immune system will be able to beat it faster than it normally would when you don’t take anything. However, if your symptoms persist, please go see a health professional because it may be more than just a cough or sore throat.
