A lot of people wonder: Do essential oils really help with depression? The answer is yes. Then, you wonder: How so? First off, if your depression is severe or you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, please seek help from a health professional because essential oils can be helpful but do not cure depression completely. Essential oils help reducing depression by reducing blood pressure, heart rate, and balances your mood.
Clinically, depression refers to a prolonged and persistent feeling of sadness over the course of an extended period of time, beyond what would be expected as a normal fluctuation in mood. Anyone can be affected by depression, and beyond feelings of unhappiness and hopelessness it can be accompanied by a range of other emotional, mental and physical symptoms, and manifests in different people in very different ways. Depression can be triggered by life events, such as bereavement, or a change in circumstances, or it can appear with no apparent cause. There are a number of mood-enhancing essential oils that have been historically used to lift the spirits and balance or improve mood, through use in massage or aromatherapy, for example. Essential oils are almost always safe to use with prescriptions but please ask your healthcare professional before using them. Some essential oils that you can use require that you be careful when outdoors and when taking certain medications. You can use the following essential oils to reduce the feelings of depression: Lavender, Bergamot, Basil, Grapefruit, Sandalwood, and plenty more.
