Essential Oil Treatments for Pruritus
Pruritus refers to severe skin itching, and is a symptom of a number of different ailments and disorders, including dry skin, and more severe skin diseases. Mint originated in Asia, but is now grown all over the world in a number of different varieties, and can be used externally to treat itching and skin irritation.
Spearmint, a member of the mint family, is very beneficial when applied topically, but should always be mixed with a carrier oil, to avoid burning or further irritation. Skin soothing oils such as lavender and sandalwood can also be added to baths to provide some relief from itching.
Application Usages
Select 20-30 drops of your preferred essential oils for pruritus relief and mix with 2 ounces of a carrier oil (coconut or jojoba oil is a good option). You can apply the mixture of itchy area.
Take 15-20 drops of your preferred essential oils for pruritus and mix with 2 ounces of carrier oil of your choosing. Apply the mixture into the water only after the water has stopped flowing. Add the mixture while the water is running to evaporate the mixture and
reduce the potency. Sit and soak in water for 10-15 minutes.
