Essential Oil Treatments for Childbirth
Sometimes during pregnancy, labour is late to begin, and there can be a medical need to encourage or induce labour, for the health of the mother and/or the baby. Many essential oils are known to induce contractions, and so, whilst these should be avoided earlier in pregnancy, they can be extremely helpful in stimulating inducing childbirth where desired.
Sage is also known to aid in childbirth, and has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. There is also a long tradition of use of raspberry leaf to assist in pregnancy and childbirth, particularly in assisting with contractions and preventing haemorrhage during labour.
People release pheromones, which affect hormones, fertility and libido, and when secreted will attract the opposite sex; plants also secrete pheromones, and thus essential oils can have a powerful effect on the human body and mind. The use of stimulating essential oils, such as cinnamon, ginger, jasmine and patchouli can be used in massage and aromatherapy to ease sexual difficulty and dysfunction. Sandalwood is also a natural aphrodisiac, and improves libido.
