The Bergamot essential oil is greenish-yellow in complexion with a fresh, sweet-fruity odor with a hint of spicy-balsamic undertone.

Upon ageing, the essential oil turns into a brownish-olive oil color.

Bergamot essential oil blends well with neroli, lavender, jasmine, cypress, lemon, geranium, chamomile, coriander, juniper, and violet.

Bergamot essential oil has a thin consistency.

Bergamot essential oil is native to tropical Asia but is now extensively cultivated in Calabria in southern Italy and is commercially grown in the Ivory Coast.

The essential oil Bergamot was named after the Italian city of Bergamot in Lombardy, where the oil was first sold. The essential oil has been traditionally used in Italian folk medicine for countless years. The oil was predominately used to remedy fever, malaria, and worms.

Bergamot essential oil has been shown to have a wide array of applications for mouth, respiratory, skin and urinary tract infections.

Do not use in cases of liver problems. Do not use when pregnant or nursing.

The Bergamot essential oil is extracted via Cold Compress from the peel of the fruit.

In this method, the peel of the fruit is penetrated while rolling over a trough. The tiny pouches which contain the essential oil is pierced and the whole fruit is pressed to squeeze the juice & the essential oil from the pulp. The essential oil rises to the surface of the juice that is extracted from the fruit.

The essential oil is extracted from the juice via centrifugation process. Please note that the essential oil produced from this method have a short life span after which, the quality of the oil begins to deteriorate.
